Who we are

Purple Dog Music Studios started 5 years ago in small room in the Salbeck’s house with their daugter, where homeschooling took place and music was learned! It later graduated to the dining room and kitchen, teaching their daughter and her small group of her friends music. This then turned into private lessons from more students and more group lessons. As word of mouth traveled, the living room was moved to Sussex Square. Owners, Autumn and Jamie, had no idea that what started as a music class for their daughter and friends would evolve into a music studio in the Sussex community! We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are looking to learn piano, guitar or even just music theory, there is a place for you at Purple Dog Music Studios!

Why the name? 

The moment that inspired the name of the studio was from a kids birthday party many years ago. The party host had the audacity to tell a very creative natured 5 year old (Autumn), who was coloring a picture of a dog, that there was no such thing as a purple dog!

The name highlights the notion that not everyone thinks the same or learns the same. Music doesn’t have to be taught inside a perfectly structured box. It's intended to inspire students and teachers to be authentic and true to themselves. Fun fact, Lola, Autumn’s daughter, designed the logo!
